Olim Tech Program
Giving educated immigrants from Ukraine and Russia tools to rebuild their futures in Israel’s high-tech.
The Challenge
Since the war began in Ukraine and Russia, thousands of highly educated new immigrants have come to Israel seeking safety and a fresh start. Many arrive with degrees and strong professional experience, but face major barriers: language gaps, lack of local networks, and an unfamiliar high-tech system.
Without targeted support, too many talented newcomers struggle to find meaningful jobs that match their skills.
- Highly educated: 57% hold a master’s degree or higher. 57%
- Language ready: 47% have completed Hebrew ulpan studies. 47%
- Underemployed: Only 18% work in their trained profession. 18%
- Financial pressure: 33% work in short-term or temporary jobs to make ends meet. 33%
- Job satisfaction: Just 7% are satisfied with their current work. 7%
- Remote work abroad: 17% still rely on jobs from their country of origin. 17%
This isn’t symbolic; it’s economic.
Despite their strong education and deep commitment to Israel, many new immigrants from Russia and Ukraine struggle to find jobs that match their skills and experience. Immigrants from Former Soviet Union (FSU) countries now make up about 15% of Israel’s population — roughly 1.3 million people — representing enormous human potential that remains underutilized.
