Born in Naharia, she earned her BA in English Literature and Political Science and her MA in Public Policy from the Hebrew University. Shira joined itworks because she wanted to be part of a national mission that feels especially urgent and personal: helping bring high-value employment opportunities to the North at a critical moment in Israel’s history.

Efrat Rozen Zaken leads Siraj at itworks, where she is dedicated to expanding opportunities for Bedouin students and graduates to enter, grow, and succeed in Israel’s high-tech sector. Her work focuses on creating meaningful pathways through student communities, STEM alumni networks, and partnerships with universities and high-tech employers, all with the goal of helping talented young people access opportunities that may once have felt out of reach. Born and raised in Be’er Sheva, Efrat brings both professional expertise and a deep personal connection to the communities and regions she serves. With an academic background in sociology and gender studies, along with training in group facilitation and mental coaching, she brings a thoughtful, people-centered approach to her work. She believes strongly in the power of community, connection, and opportunity to create lasting change. Efrat chose to join forces with itworks through the merger with Siraj out of a deep belief that this partnership could create broader and more meaningful impact on the ground. She is passionate about building bridges between people, institutions, and industries, and about helping more young Bedouin adults imagine a future for themselves in Israel’s innovation economy. Outside of work, she enjoys reading, writing, traveling, and bringing people together.

The post Efrat Rozen Zaken first appeared on itworks.
